Crown Royal Blended Canadian Whisky was first produced in 1939 to commemorate the grand tour of Canada by King George VI and Queen Elizabeth and involved of a careful selection of 50 Canadian whiskies blended together in an elegant bottle made from the finest cut crystal and wrapped in a purple robe. This bottle was placed on the royal train as a symbol of the authentic and hard-working personality of the Canadian people.
Time has passed since then, but Crown Royal Blended Canadian Whisky remains a symbol of Canadian whisky excellence and continues to be made in the same way, from a blend of 50 full-bodied, perfectly matured whiskies. This whisky ages in American white oak barrels and is made from natural ingredients born to survive the difficult Canadian conditions that, together with the softness of the water found in Lake Winnipeg (Canada) and filtered naturally through limestone, result in a whisky with unmistakable smoothness, length and persistence.
