Volandera is a red wine produced in Murchante by La Calandria Pura Garnacha, within D.O. Navarra.

La Calandria Pura Garnacha is a project created by Luis Remacha and Javier Continente, who started their journey in 2008. They bought an old vineyard in Cintruénigo and, little by little, they have acquired more Grenache vineyards in the surroundings to make fresh wines from this variety in the south area of Navarre and also in the area of Tierga, in Aragón.

Volandera comes from a vineyard located in Cintruénigo, planted more than 60 years ago on clay soils. Fermentation is carried out in stainless steel deposits with indigenous yeasts. After it is stabilised, the wine is bottled.

Volandera is a young wine that gives off aromas of lactic red fruits. Slightly sweet, but with a good acidity that makes it perfect to drink fresh.

Some wine regions have to bear the weight of their own prestige and fame, and this is certainly the case for Navarra. For many years, the white and reds produced in this region came second to the rosés produced here with the noble Grenacha variety. However, the last two decades have seen ongoing changes in the wine-making sector in Navarra, changes which have completely transformed the styles of wine produced and have been consistently worthwhile, resulting in  some of the white and red wines produced in Navarra being ranked among best rated in Spain.
