Real reviews from customers who have purchased this product

Viña Pomal Maturana Blanca is a white wine from the D.O La Rioja produced by Bodegas Bilbaínas. This wine, as the name would suggest, is made using only Maturana Blanca grapes.

The grapes used for Viña Pomal Maturana Blanca come from the town of Haro, grown on an estate called Paceta 14 which is owned by the winery. The vinyard is over 15 years old, situated around 448 metres above sea level and is strongly influenced by the atlantic climate.

The harvest is carried out manually, with the grapes being transported to the warehouse in small boxes so that the grapes do not break and lose their qualities. At the winery the grapes undergo fermentation in new American oak barrels. The must obtained is left to stand on its lees for about three months. Before being bottled, Viña Pomal Maturana Blanca ages four months in barrels of French oak.

Scripts dating back to 1622 wrote of the Maturana Blanca grape variety, making it the oldest grape varietyin La Rioja.

Viña Pomal is one of the best known brands of Bodegas Bilbaínas, undoubtedly one most prominent wineries in the region.

The century-old Bodegas Bilbaínas were born with a French heart and were established with a Riojan spirit. Bodegas Bilbaínas is the oldest bottling firm in La Rioja. It is the winery with the largest surface area of underground caves ("calados") in the whole region (3,400 m2). It also has the most extensive area of vineyards in the municipality of Haro. Since the beginning, the winery has been defined by its deep knowledge of the territory and the care in the production of its single-vineyard wines. These are extremely identified with the plots where they came from, hence their names: in 1911 Viña Pomal was created; in 1921, Viña Zaco; in 1923, the white wine Viña Paceta; and the range was extended in 1994 with La Vicalanda reserva, a distinguished and expressive wine that was born from the 9-hectare farm, selected in the vineyard area of Viña Pomal.
