Characteristics Viña Pomal Centenario Reserva
Viña Pomal Centenario Reserva is a red wine from the Rioja region produced by Bodegas Bilbaínas. This wine is made using Tempranillo (100%) grapes, which are the most common in the region. The grapes used to make Viña Pomal Centenario Reserva are grown exclusively on the wineries vineyards which span 90 hectares. These are located inside the municipality of Haro and less than 2 kilometres from the winery, in one of the town's most beautiful enclaves, overlooking the Ebro river as it flows downstream through the Conchas de Haro pass. The different plots are home to soils of various kinds, as well as different sun exposure of each plot.
At the winery, the grapes are alcoholically fermented at a controlled temperature of 28ºC. Following this, maceration takes place for 3 weeks.
Viña Pomal Centenario Reserva ages for 18 months in american oak barrels (a fifth of which are new). During this phase, daily rackings occur. Finally before being marketed, Viña Pomal Centenario Reserva refines for 2 more years in the bottle. This wine is a referene point for Bodegas Bilbaínas. The first vintage of this wine back in 1996 celebrated the 100 years since the foundation of the winery.

Others wines Bodegas Bilbaínas
The century-old Bodegas Bilbaínas were born with a French heart and were established with a Riojan spirit. Bodegas Bilbaínas is the oldest bottling firm in La Rioja. It is the winery with the largest surface area of underground caves ("calados") in the whole region (3,400 m2). It also has the most extensive area of vineyards in the municipality of Haro. Since the beginning, the winery has been defined by its deep knowledge of the territory and the care in the production of its single-vineyard wines. These are extremely identified with the plots where they came from, hence their names: in 1911 Viña Pomal was created; in 1921, Viña Zaco; in 1923, the white wine Viña Paceta; and the range was extended in 1994 with La Vicalanda reserva, a distinguished and expressive wine that was born from the 9-hectare farm, selected in the vineyard area of Viña Pomal.
