Viña Pedrosa Gran Reserva 2016
D.O. Ribera del Duero
(Castilla y León)
- New
Cepa Gavilán Crianza is a red wine from D.O. Ribera del Duero made by the winery Viña Pedrosa. This red wine is a single-variety of Tinta del País.
The grapes used for this wine come from vineyards located in Pedrosa de Duero, in the province of Burgos, at around 840 metres of altitude, which take up around 135 hectares of land. The vines are aged between 10 and 15 years. These are the youngest vineyards managed by the winery. The land where Cepa Gavilán Crianza is born, is clayey-calcareous. The climate is continental, with a considerable Atlantic influence.
The grapes are harvested manually. After the corresponding vinification processes, the must of Cepa Gavilán Crianza is aged for approximately one year in French and American oak barrels.
In the mouth it is powerful, invasive, and a long end.
Viña Pedrosa is a reality that shows the personal challenge of the family Pérez Pascuas. Their innate sensitivity and their particular vision of the future, make their wines participate in the secret complicity between the science of their production, and the pleasure of their tasting. Although this winery has not had ‘made noise’ in Ribera del Duero, the Pérez Pascuas family has de DNA of the area in their blood. Their wines, always balanced, and designed to withstand the passage of time, have managed to stay aside of excesses, trends and fashions in vogue. Today, it is an example of a serious, well consolidated winery, that has always been known for the regularity of its wine production, harvest after harvest.
