The person behind this story: Genara Villota, grandmother of Carmen Pérez Garrigues (current winery manager), who has named the estate’s oldest plot Viña Gena. This land, with Tempranillo vines aged over 90 years old, was planted in 1930 by Ricardo Pérez Pérez (Carmen's great-grandfather) when he returned from Chile. Today, it’s a real gem. There, in the heart of the D.O.Ca. Rioja, Villota Viña Gena Viñedo Singular, is made. A red where quality is more important than quantity. 

Taking this into account, the yield is not very high, but this guarantees that Villota Viña Gena Viñedo Singular, made in Rioja Alavesa, in the northeast of the Iberian Peninsula, on the banks of the Ebro, is always excellent quality.

Villota Viña Gena Viñedo Singular receives its high-quality finish in the winery, with a one-year aging in French oak barrels complemented by aging in concrete tanks.
