Real reviews from customers who have purchased this product

In Lapuebla de la Barca (a municipality in the south of Álava), lies an estate; and on that estate there is a little house surrounded by vineyards. They call it the beehive. It was once used to make honey.

Normally, wines are born from the earth, from the must that comes out of the grape, but when it comes to Bodegas Villota the story changes, because this vine house built with sandstone ashlars is the true heart. A place where the world stops. A place where dreams come true.

One such dream resulted in Villota Tinto Selección, a wine made with high quality grapes selected from old vines, with an average age of 30 years old, growing in the D.O.Ca. Rioja, specifically in Rioja Alavesa. This area, lying on the north bank of the Ebro River, is characterised by predominantly clay-calcareous soils, with an Atlantic climate (dry and sunny).

The unique condition of Villota Tinto Selección is completed by spending a long time in French oak barrels from the Taransaud, Darnajou and Vicard cooperages.

Rioja is one of the most important areas of wine production in the world. It has a long history, and exceptional soils and climates. From the Tempranillo and Grenache varieties they make great red wines that are masterfully aged which demonstrates the experience passed from generation to generation.
