Valtuille Vino de Villa is a red wine coupage of the Mencia, Bastardo, Garnacha Tintorera and other white varieties produced by the Castro Ventosa winery in the DO Bierzo, in Castilla y León, Spain.

After a lot of hard word from local wineries and the Bierzo Denomination of Origin itself, new quality classifications were approved for their wines and Valtuille Vino de Villa is one of the first Vino de Villa wines to hit the market. With this new classification, the denomination continues to prioritise quality over quantity in their productions. This is an interesting region where they often use ancient varieties.

Valtuille Vino de Villa is made with clusters from old vines located in various parts of Valtuille. The coupage is dominated by the Mencia variety. The varieties ferment separately in 500-litre oak vats. The resulting wine ages for 12 months in oak barrels.

Castro Ventosa is a hundred-year-old winery and it is also the name of the land where the Pérez family originate. This family works hard to preserve their roots and traditions and their wines are made under the direction of one of the most renowned winemakers in the world, Raúl Pérez. These wines have impressed the most prominent critics and they continue to win high scores and positive comments from the most knowledgeable people.

Talk of Castro Ventosa, is speaking of a place but mostly about being rooted to earth are these people with some style, sober and discreet, outside shocks, trends and fleeting fashions, and only subject to cyclical and monotonous rhythm the passing of the seasons and the vineyard. Castro Ventosa in life gravitates around the earth, to the vineyard, the grape and fruit asu wine, which is only seen as the natural consequence of success at all stages but particularly in the strain itself.

Bierzo wine is on the rise. It is a region defined by its small scale work, with plots scattered around, very old vines, artisan work of the small scale wineries, and the character of their principal variety, the Mencía grape, which produces fresh, fruity and delicious wines. Although the region is well known mostly for its red wines, it also produces white and rosé wines. If the red wines here are defined by the Mencía variety, then the white wines here are defined by the Godello. Godello grape has great aromatic potential, as well as an excellent balance between alcohol and acidity.  Despite the great potential of El Bierzo, its rise in the wine world would not have been possible without two people: Raúl Pérez and Ricardo Pérez. Two great winemakers who in little time have been able to produce critically acclaimed wines from the Bierzo region.
