Valori Abruzzo Pecorino Bio

Although at first the worlds of wine and football might seem incompatible, when it comes to Luigi Valori, the latter helped him to discover the quality of good wines first hand thanks to the many trips he has made to France. So, once he hung up his football boots, he decided to dig out his notes from when he was studying agronomy as a young man and started his own winemaking project in Teramo Hills, in the province of Abruzzo (Italy). This is where he built a modern winemaking centre with two aims; to make better wine year after year and to take maximum care of the land where it grows. As Luigi says “You need all the science and steel to make a clean wine, but you need the human senses to make a great wine”.

Among the variety of wines he makes each year, Valori Abruzzo Pecorino Bio is an elegant and mineral white wine from a small plot of old Abruzzo Pecorino vines lying at 300 metres above sea level and rooted in sandy clay soil. Since the entire estate has been certified organic since 2013, Luigi only treats his vines with copper so, instead of removing all threats, the vines are the ones that have to work a little harder to fight off disease. This gives the fruit superior concentration and quality. Once the grapes are ripe, they are harvested by hand and taken to the winery for vinification. There they are selected, destemmed and gently crushed. The resulting must then ferments in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature.

The result is Valori Abruzzo Pecorino Bio, a white wine made within the DOC Abruzzo Pecorino, which, thanks to its versatility and casual touch, has become the winery’s best seller. Freshness and crunch to enjoy every day.
