D.O. Jerez-Xérès-Sherry (Andalusia)
Valdespino Isabela Creamis a generous wine produced by the winery Valdespino in Jerez de la Frontera, D.O.Jerez.
Valdespino is one of the oldest wineries in Jerez. The first member of the Valdespino family who started to cultivate the vines and age the Sherry wines was Mr Alfonso Valdespino, in the 13th century. Currently, Valdespino belongs to Grupo Estévez.
Valdespino is a reference of the ageing of Sherry wines, known for their traditional methods in the production processes of their wines.
All the grapes used to produce the Valdespino cru wines come from the farm Macharnudo Alto, located around 5 km from the north-east of Jerez, at 135 metres above sea level, planted on "albariza" soils, which are typical of the area. The "albariza" are white calcareous soils that retain the water very well.
Valdespino Isabela Cream is a wine made from mixing an Oloroso (Palomino Fino grape) and a Pedro Ximénez (Pedro Ximénez grape). It is a mixture of around 75% of Oloroso and 25% of Pedro Ximénez. Part of this mixture comes from an old "solera" and, in total, it is over 15 years old. The result is a cream with 120 gr of sugar.
Valdespino Isabela Cream is a sweet mahogany-coloured wine, with notes of dried fruits and nuts, and oak from the ageing process. This wine was created recently, at the beginning of 2000. It is named after the wife of Jose Estévez, owner of the group Estévez, to which Valdespino belongs.
