Tros Blanc is a white wine from the D.O Montsant produced by Alfredo Arribas – Portal del Priorat. This is a single variety wine made with the Garnacha Blanca grape.
The Montsant region is home to a harsh climate, with cold temperatures, constant rainfall and high brightness, conditions which favour the cultivation of vines. The grapes used to make this wine come from a vineyard that spans 1.5 hectares and grows on calcareous sandy soils. The vines are between 70-80 years old and grow at altitudes around 240-325 metres, facing northeast and southeast orientations.
The harvest is carried out manually using small 16kg capacity boxes, ensuring that the grapes do not break and remain in the best possible condition on their way to the winery. Following the vinification process, Tros Blanc ages for 10 months in French oak barrels.
Trossos is a collection of wine by Alfredo Arribas, architect-turned-winemaker who currently enjoys prestige, and quite rightly so. Producing wine in Montsant and Priorat, he looks to convey the essence of these unique territories, resulting in unmistakable wines that do not go unnoticed.
