- New
Travaglini Trevigne is a barrel-aged red wine made by the Italian Travaglini winery, only in the best vintages, in the Gattinara Denomination (Piedmont) with the Nebbiolo variety.
Founded in 1958, Travaglini is a family business located in the heart of the Gattinara hills. This winery is great testament to a wine region that has been revived following the devastating phylloxera outbreak at the beginning of the 20th century. This winery’s founder, Giancarlos, helped awaken the desire to show the world this region’s special characteristics. Thanks to the local microclimate, ranging altitudes and special soils, the wines made here are unique.
Travaglini Trevigne comes from three exceptional vineyards with a particular microclimate. Lying at an altitude of 320 to 420 metres above sea level, the soil has rare characteristics that give the wine unique and rich olfactory qualities. This is a rocky area with granite, porphyry and abundant iron minerals that give the soil a typical reddish colour. The vines are cultivated using traditional agriculture, with high-density sowing and a manual harvest at the optimal point of ripeness.
In the winery, the Travaglini Trevigne wine is vinified in stainless steel tanks for about 15 days at a controlled temperature. It is then aged for 40 months, 30 in Slavic oak barrels and then 20% of the wine spends an additional 10 months in smaller barrels. Finally it is left to refine for 8 months in the bottle.
Travaglini Trevigne is the product of a selection of three historical vineyards with an exceptional Nebbiolo grape. This wine is only made in the best vintages and is sold in a bottle that also serves as the most original decanter.
