Characteristics Taïka

Real reviews from customers who have purchased this product

Taïka is a wonderful sparkling wine produced by the winery Castell d'Encús in the appellation of origin (D.O) Costers del Segre.

The winemaker from this winery, Raúl Bobet, is also responsible for the production of the Priorat de Ferrer Bobet, a great red wine with good reputation.

Taïka is a sparkling wine, born from Lérida in the Pyrenees, at an altitude of 1000 meters above sea level, this makes this sparkling wine produced at the highest altitude of any other wines in Spain, and probably in all of Europe.

Taïka is produced by varieties from Pinot Noir and Sémillon combined with a small portion of Riesling.
The harvest is conducted manually, in small boxes that hold up to 10kg.

The first fermentation process to obtain the base wine is realised in small containers of 25hl.

The production of Taïka is a little a strange. The base wine used has not had time to ferment, and as such still contains a certain residual sugar.

This sugar is used in the second fermentation process in the bottle, meaning there is no need to add any other type of sugar, only the sugar that originated from the grape.
Taïka is aged for 27 months in the bottle.

A fine, complex sparkling wine, limited production of only 600 bottles.

It is located in the Pyrenees area of Pallars Jussà (Lleida) in a mountainous area at an altitude of 800 to 1000 meters. The orientation is primarily SO with good protection from the cold north winds. The intention of the winery is producing a limited number of bottles from the whole fruit of their vines.
Pictures and situation Castell d'Encús
When we refer to the DO Costers del Segre we think of wines with a continental character, which in some respects is true, but extensive replantation of international grape varieties means that the majority of wines produced here lack a geographical or territorial trademark, even though the vast majority of the wines are technologically perfect. However, there are currently wineries such as Mas Blanch i Jové, Costers del Sio, L’Olivera, Lagravera and Thomas Cusiné, among others, who concentrate their effors on producing wines with what are considered varieties native to the region. However, the majority of this region is still dominated by classic international varieties.
