Suertes del Marqués La Solana is a red wine from Valle de la Orotova prepared by the Suertes del Marqués winery. This winery is located in Tenerife.

Suertes del Marqués La Solana is a varietal Listán Negro (local variety). The grapes come from old vines over 100 years old situated at an altitude of between 400 and 520 metres, orientated northeast. The cultivation of the vineyards is done using a unique multi corded system.

The vines grow on poor soils formed on volcanic rock, which contribute to the wine's minerality and fruitiness.

To prepare Suertes del Marqués La Solana, the grapes are placed in small open unusuallu curved concrete vats for a cold maceration.

After maceration at controlled temperatures with manual movements, fermentation occurs in French oak barrels (80% from Allier, 10% from Vosges and 10% from Centres) of 500 litres.

In the same barrels, the wine is aged for 10-12 months.

Since the very beginning in 2006, this small and family-run winery has opted for the native varieties of the area and the use of traditional training methods of Valle de la Orotava, thus preserving the rich winegrowing heritage of this region, which goes back five centuries. Valle de la Orotava is considered the origin of the vineyards on the island of Tenerife. Today, a large part of the identity of the wines from Suertes del Marqués, both whites and reds, are based on the unique expression of the native variety Listán.

Tenerife, with an area of 2,034km2, is the largest and most populous of the Canary Islands, known internationally as the “island of eternal spring”. This island also unites the most wine DOs, among them the DO Valle de la Orotava, where today the identity of its wines, whites and reds, are based on the particular and unique character of the native Listán grape variety.
