Succés El Mentider is a red wine produced by Succés Vinícola in Barberà de la Conca (Tarragona), D.O.Conca de Barberà.
Succés Vinícola was created by two young people, Mariona Vendrell and Albert Canela, when in 2011 they had the opportunity to start their project in the "viver de celleristers" (lit. incubator for winemakers). The "viver de celleristes" allows young people to develop their wine project, giving them the necessary space and machinery to make their wines for up to 10 years.
Wines from Succés Vinícola aim to represent the varieties and the native terroir of D.O. Conca de Barberà, using the local varieties Parellada and Trepat in more than 90%. To enhance the character of their wines, they cultivate the vineyards organically, using traditional viticulture and with utmost respect for the ecosystem.
Succés El Mentider is a wine made from Trepat from three farms with different characteristics that are between 80 and 100 years old.
They are manually harvested and placed in boxes. The grapes are selected in their own vineyards. At the winery, they ferment with wild yeasts in stainless steel deposits, with a maceration of around 45 days. The malolactic fermentation is spontaneous in 300- and 500-litre barrels. This wine is aged in 225-litre French oak barrels for 9 months.
