Characteristics Sokol Blosser Willamette Pinot Gris
Sokol Blosser Willamette Pinot Gris is a single-variety Pinot Gris white wine made by the Sokol Blosser winery in Oregon, United States.
To make the Sokol Blosser Willamette Pinot Gris wine, the grapes are harvested manually at different points of ripeness to produce a wine with more layers and flavour profiles. When they reach the winery, the clusters are gently pressed whole to avoid unpleasant flavours developing in the must. After pressing, the must is cooled and left to stand for two days before the start of the alcoholic fermentation, which takes place in stainless steel tanks.
The resulting wine ages in stainless steel tanks with the aim of preserving its full fruit and aromatic potential. It remains on its lees during aging and undergoes periodic battonage to expand its texture on the palate.
Pioneers in vine cultivation in Oregon, Susan Sokol and Bill Blosser established their first vineyards in 1971 with enthusiasm, energy and determination and before there was a wine industry in the area. Today they are part of the AVA (American Viticultural Area) of Dundee Hills where they cultivate around 50 hectares of vineyards according to the principles of organic agriculture.
