Sílice Finca Romeu is an organic, barrel-aged red wine made with the Mencía and Garnacha Tintorera varieties by Sílice Viticultores in Ribeira Sacra (Galicia).

Sílice Viticultores was set up in 2013 by brothers Carlos and Juan Manuel Rodríguez together with winemaker Fredi Torres with the aim of reviving the Rodríguez family’s wine tradition in the Ribeira Sacra. The two things that make this winery stand out are their extremely steep plots cultivated using organic farming and their commitment to minimal intervention in the winemaking process. All of this results in wines that express the terroir in an elegant and refined way.

Sílice Finca Romeu comes from vines planted in granite and sandy soils on the banks of the Sil river. Using environmentally friendly viticulture, all work in the vineyard is manual and no herbicides are used. Yield is limited to achieve higher grape quality and the harvest is carried out manually at the optimal point of ripeness.

The Sílice Finca Romeu winery follows an entirely artisan production process to express the character of the terroir. This involves vinification without destemming and using native yeasts in stainless steel tanks. Malolactic fermentation then takes place in 225-litre French oak barrels for 15 months.

Sílice Finca Romeu is a limited production wine that is known all around the world. Made entirely by hand and with minimal intervention, it is an elegant, fresh wine with a strong mineral character.
