Sileo is a red wine from the D.O Monstant region produced by the AT Roca winery. This wine is a blend of 2 different grape varieties: Garnacha (80%) and Samsó (20%).
The winery owns 3 different vineyards in the region, which are cared for by eight different winemaking families. The vineyards are old and cultivated in an ecological and organic manner. The harvest and selection of the grapes is carried out manually to avoid damaging the fruit in any way. The 2 varieties of grapes used to make this Sileo, Garnacha and Samso, are taken from 2 estates, Brunet and Mas de Brunet, which are situated at 250 metres above sea level.
Once at the winery, the grapes are left to ferment for 18 days in stainless steel tanks in order to obtain the must which serves a base for the final product. Following this, malolactic fermentation takes place in barrels that have a 300 litre capacity.
Before being finally bottled, Sileo ages for 4 months in french oak barrels that have a 300 litre capacity. The result? A wine with a grand personality, that perfectly conveys with honesty the qualities of the land from where it was conceived.
AT Roca is a personal project lead by Agustí Torelló Sibill, a winemaker with a superb reputation after years of experience at the Agustí Torelló Mata winery. He is joined on this project by his 2 sons.
In Latin, Sileo means restart. This wine, the only wine of the winery to be produced in the D.O Monstant region, symbolises the exciting first steps towards a new era for the winery.
