The Ronco Severo Friulano Colli Orientali wine is made in the Italian region of Friuli-Venezia Giulia, which is part of the DOP Colli Orientali del Friuli. An orange wine made by Ronco Severo with the Friulano native variety.
The Ronco Severo winery lies in a unique territory, characterised by an exclusive sandstone soil called “ponca” in Friulian. The owner, Stefano Novello, has managed to interpret the Friulian tradition in a modern and high quality way and has succeeded in producing organic wines completely naturally and with no oenological additives.
Ronco Severo Friulano Colli Orientali comes from a 2.9 hectare vineyard lying 150 metres above sea level. These are healthy vines cultivated without chemical fertilisers or herbicides, and in a way that always seeks to express the marl terroir that is so characteristic of the estate. The work is all manual and the grapes are selected in the vineyard and harvested in boxes.
Ronco Severo Friulano Colli Orientali is fermented with the skins in conical oak vats for 60 days with native yeasts and no temperature control. The wine is then gently pressed and left to settle in 30hl Slavonian conical tanks for 24 months on its lees. Finally the wine is bottled during the waning moon without filtering or clarifying.
Born in the Italian white wine paradise, Ronco Severo Friulano Colli Orientali is the result of a winemaker’s non-interventionist approach as the grapes journey from the vineyard to the bottle. An orange wine with great expressiveness and intensity.
