Real reviews from customers who have purchased this product

Rodrigo Méndez O Raio da Vella is a monovarietal Albariño white wine from the D.O. Rías Baixas produced by Bodegas y Viñedos Rodrigo Méndez.

Bodegas y Viñedos Rodrigo Méndez is a small winery located in Meaño, Pontevedra. It enjoys the collaboration of the famous winemaker Raúl Pérez. It works with stainless tanks and 600 and 225 litre barrels. The winery makes very few bottles a year, following traditional methods and techniques.

Rodrigo Méndez O Raio da Vella is harvested manually into15kg boxes, and comes from young vineyards. Once in the winery, the grapes are pressed and the must is fermented with native yeasts in a 1,500 litre oak foudre. In this same foudre it ends up undergoing 12 months of ageing. Rodrigo Méndez produces only 1,800 bottles of this wine.

Rodrigo Méndez O Raio da Vella is a monovarietal Albariño wine in which the strength and intensity of the grapes from young vines have been polished by being aged for 12 months in foudre.

Rías Baixas wines would not be where they are today without the native Albariño grape variety. Although red wines are also produced in Rías Baixas, practically 100% of Rías Baixas wines are white. Among them, the vast majority of them are made with the Albariño grape. As well as young wines, fresh and aromatic, the region also makes wines aged in the barrels, complex wines with great personalities. Albariño wines can either be single varieties, or be part of a blend with other characteristic grapes of the region: Treixadura, Loureira Blanca and Godello.
