Rodrigo Méndez El Barredo is a red wine produced by Rodrigo Méndez and Raul Pérez in El Bierzo.

 

After creating a large number of wines, together and individually, Rodrigo Méndez and Raul Pérez now launch one of the best reds that currently exist in this area.

 

Rodrigo Méndez El Barredo is produced with grapes from the farm El Barredo, located in Valtuille de Abajo, the hometown of Raúl Pérez. Vineyards are planted on clayey soils. The Mencía variety comes from a vineyard that is over 80 years old, and the Pinot Noir from vineyards between 15 and 20 years of age.

Harvest is performed by hand. Fermentation is carried out with whole bunches and the stems, with long maceration periods. Then, the wine is aged for 12 months in used French oak barrels.

 

Rodrigo Méndez El Barredo is an ample, fluid wine with a great personality. In this gem, the rusticity of the Mencía is domesticated by the elegance of the Pinot Noir, boosting the character of the terroir.
