Rietsch Riesling Brandluft is a natural monovarietal Riesling white wine from the AOC Alsace produced by the Domaine Rietsch winery.
Domaine Rietsch is a small family winery located in an old Renaissance period farm in the centre of the small Alsatian village of Mittelbergheim. Their vineyards were converted to organic farming in 2008, and for the last couple of years they have adopted the principles of the "Vin Naturel" philosophy in order to further emphasise the character and characteristics of the different Grand Cru in the area.
The vineyard for Rietsch Riesling Brandluft is cultivated organically. Its soils are clayey, calcareous and quartz sandstone. The plots face south.
To produce Rietsch Riesling Brandluft the grapes are pressed without destemming when they arrive in the cellar, and alcoholic fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks. Both alcoholic and malolactic fermentation begin spontaneously, without commercial microorganisms being seeded. The final wine is aged on lees in foudres for 22 months.
Rietsch Riesling Brandluft is a natural white Riesling that seeks to be the pure expression of its grapes and its terroir.
