Remordimiento Tinto is an ecological, wood-aged red wine made with the Monastrell and Syrah varieties by Bodegas Cerrón in the D.O. Jumilla, in the Murcia region (Spain).
Bodegas Cerrón is a family project whose aim is to preserve the town’s winemaking tradition that dates back to 1895 in the La Calera area. To do this, they recover vineyards that were abandoned due to low yields and now, with a total of 26 hectares of land, they make local wines with a perfect balance between acidity, alcohol and fruit.
Remordimiento Tinto comes from a selection of vineyards planted mostly on calcareous soils and lying between 840 and 900 metres above sea level. These are 25-50 year old vines that are ecologically cultivated and certified as such. The yields are very low and the harvest is carried out manually at the optimum point of ripeness.
In the winery, the Remordimiento Tinto grapes are cold macerated and then spontaneous fermentation begins with native yeasts in barrels and amphoras made of clay, cement and stainless steel. Finally, the wine ages in clay amphoras and 500-, 600- and 700-litre French oak barrels for 18 months.
With a name inspired by the responsibility of carrying a centuries-old winemaking legacy, Remordimiento Tinto is a coupage made from a careful selection of different soils and varieties. A wine that tells stories of a land that has been cultivated and cared for generation after generation.
