Characteristics Puerta Vieja Reserva
Puerta Vieja Reserva is a red wine Reserva made in D.O.Ca. Rioja by Bodegas Riojanos with the native Tempranillo, Mazuelo and Graciano varieties.
Bodega Riojanas is a winery that started life in the town of Cenicero (Logroño) and has been producing classic wines for more than a century. 5 generations have managed to hold onto the traditional way of making wines, whilst also incorporating new technologies to guarantee its future. In recent years it has been making a name for itself in several Denominations of Origin such as Rueda, Toro, Ribera de Duero, Rías Baixas and Cava.
The grape used to make the Puerta Vieja Reserva red wine comes from the best vineyards that the winery has in Rioja. A classic viticulture that has a low-yield, high-quality production from vineyards that are planted in clayey-calcareous soil and subjected to contrasting temperatures between day and night. The harvest is carried out when the grapes reach optimum ripening.
In the winery the grape is destemmed and crushed. Puerta Vieja Reserva undergoes alcoholic fermentation and a long temperature-controlled maceration. It is then aged in American oak barrels for 30 months and racked. The wine rests in the bottle for a minimum of 6 months before it is released to the market.
Puerta Vieja Reserva is a classic red wine, perfect for those looking to enjoy a typical Rioja.
