Provveditore Morellino di Scansano is a wood-aged red wine made by Provveditore di Scansano with the Sangiovese variety in the DOCG Morenillo di Scansano, in Tuscany (Italy).
The Provveditore Agricultural Company is a family project run by the Bargagli family a few kilometres from Scansanoda, an Italian town in southwestern Tuscany. They have a total of 30 km of land planted with old vines, new vines and many olive trees. Now, the fifth generation of the family are carrying the legacy by expanding and diversifying their productions.
Provveditore Morellino di Scansano comes from vineyards located 350 metres above sea level on a tuff and calcareous soil. These vines are 20-30 years old on average, they are traditionally cultivated with limited yields and the harvest takes place at the optimum point of ripeness.
In the winery, the Provveditore Morellino di Scansano grapes macerate for about 20 days and ferment at a controlled temperature in stainless steel tanks. The wine is then refined in barrels for 18 months and at least 8 months in the bottle before being sold.
Provveditore Morellino di Scansano is the result of tradition combined with new production techniques. An excellent wine with structure, power and authenticity.
