Ponce Las Cañadas is a rosé wine made by the Ponce winerywith the Bobal variety in the D.O. Manchuela (Castilla La Mancha).
Ponce is a family winery founded in 2005 in the town of Iniesta (Cuenca). There, Juan Antonio Ponce, father and son, cultivate 35 hectares of vines aged between 30 and 80 years old and predominantly of the Bobal variety. They make original and honest wines through their high level of respect for the land’s natural balance, and they have managed to put the D.O. Machuela on the map.
Ponce Las Cañadas comes from a 1.5 hectare plot of old, ungrafted strains that are over 50 years old and planted in clay-calcareous soil at an altitude of 700-820 metres. They use traditional agriculture with no chemicals and under biodynamic principles. The harvest is carried out manually and early.
When the Ponce Las Cañadas grape reaches the winery, it is vinified through direct pressing with a short maceration. It then spends 7 months in a 500-litre French oak barrel. It is bottled without filtering or stabilising.
Ponce Las Cañadas is a rosé wine that presents the original freshness and fruitiness that the native Bobal variety has in abundance.
