Planetes de Nin is a red wine produced in D.O.q Priorat by the Familia Nin-Ortiz in Porrera, Tarragona.

Ester Nin and Carles Ortiz run the winery, two people in love with Priorat’s steep slate slopes and biodynamic agriculture.

Planetes de Nin comes from the Finca les Planetes, 5 hectares of vineyard planted with Garnacha and Cariñena which are harvested by hand. Fermentation takes place in wooden ‘fudres’ with their own yeast. When it has finished fermenting, the wine is aged in the same ‘fudre’.

Ester Nin has quickly become one of the key names in Priorat. She started with Mas Martinet and Clos Erasmus, which is where she was first awarded 100 Parker points for a Spanish wine. From there she started her own project, giving the winery her own name. Her first wine, Nit de Nin, exploded onto the market, scoring 98 Parker points for her first vintage. Then came the rest: a whole collection of biodynamic wines with the ability to showcase the full strength and essence of Priorat, and each vintage touched by Parker's magic wand. These wines have found themselves a comfortable position among Parker’s highest rated Spanish wines.
Priorat is craftsmanship and tradition, old and robust vines that are grown and born deep inside the province of Tarragona. They are grown on slopes that are sleety with low fertility and difficult to grow in. In Priorat they produce great red wines of an excellent quality, a maroon colour, robust, dense and rich flavour, intense aromas and sometimes there are reflections present of minerals from the soils.
