Pequeñas Puertas La Peli is an ecological, wood-aged red wine made with the Garnacha variety by Proyecto Zorzal in the D.O. Navarra.

Proyecto Zorzal is a family winery that was established with the aim of showcasing the maximum expression of a historical landscape. The Sanz brothers make wines in the D.O. Navarra and D.O.Ca. Rioja following the passion that their father Antonio Sanz passed on to them from a very young age. Now, together with intrepid Argentine winemaker Matías Michelini, they have created a new range of very limited production single-plot wines.

Pequeñas Puertas La Peli comes from the native Garnacha Roya variety, an almost forgotten grape that the Sanz brothers and Matías Michelini are working hard to recover in the Navarra town of Fitero, in the La Carbonela area. The vines are cultivated using organic agriculture and no chemical products. The harvest is carried out manually at the optimum point of ripeness.

In the winery, Pequeñas Puertas La Peli is made like an orange wine. In other words, the destemmed grapes ferment with their own skins in a 1,000-litre vat and once the process has finished, they are pressed and aged for 15 months in used 500-litre oak barrels.

Pequeñas Puertas La Peli is a most versatile red wine. It is made like an orange wine, it looks a bit like a rosé, on the nose it is similar to a white and on the palate it feels like a red.

Proyecto Zorzal is one of the most interesting wineries in Navarre. Parting from an innovative style, vines treated with care, and a very well-kept aesthetic, Viña Zorzal gains more followers each day. Without any doubt, a breath of fresh air for the Spanish winemaking scene.

Some wine regions have to bear the weight of their own prestige and fame, and this is certainly the case for Navarra. For many years, the white and reds produced in this region came second to the rosés produced here with the noble Grenacha variety. However, the last two decades have seen ongoing changes in the wine-making sector in Navarra, changes which have completely transformed the styles of wine produced and have been consistently worthwhile, resulting in  some of the white and red wines produced in Navarra being ranked among best rated in Spain.
