Palacios Remondo La Propiedad is a red wine produced by Bodegas Palacios Remondo in D.O Rioja. The winery was founded in 1945 by José Palacios Remondo, the father of álvaro Palacios and of Chelo, who currently manage the family winery. álvaro Palacios is one of the outstanding names of the Spanish wine scene. He is the creator of great wines like L’Ermita in Priorat and La Faraona in El Bierzo.

The winery is located in the municipality of Alfaro (La Rioja Baja)  and its geographical location clearly provides it with a Mediterranean climate, with much more heat and les rain that in La Rioja Alta. This change results in the cultivation of the Grenache as the prevailing variety, since it withstands heat better.

La Propiedad is a single-variety of Grenache from vineyards planted at 550 metres of altitude. The vineyard’s soils are mainly calcareous, clayey-ferrous and with a large amount of pebbles. The harvest is carried out manually, taking advantage of the hours of less sun to keep the grapes fresh.

Once in the winery, the grapes go through a selection table before destemming. They are subjected to maceration and fermentation in wooden vats and then they are transferred to barrels to start the malolactic fermentation. This wine is aged for 18 months in foudres.

La Propiedad is a complex and elegant wine, with a fruit character provided by the Grenache and the spiciness of the wood.

The new and latest stage of Álvaro Palacios as the lead of the family-run winery. As an outspoken advocate of the concept of cru wines, he has turned the land and the vineyard into the identity mark of the wines of Palacios Remondo and into the business success of the winery. Since he joined the family winery in 2000 along with his sister Chelo, and with a renewed significance of the current vineyard they own, the style of the wines of Palacios Remondo has been noticeably transformed in a few years. Mainly with the objective of giving greater importance to the local variety, the Red Grenache.
Rioja is one of the most important areas of wine production in the world. It has a long history, and exceptional soils and climates. From the Tempranillo and Grenache varieties they make great red wines that are masterfully aged which demonstrates the experience passed from generation to generation.
