O Morto Godello is a white wine made in jars by O Morto Wines with the Godello variety in the D.O. Ribeiro (Galicia). A natural, ecological and biodynamic wine that is suitable for vegans.
 
Born into an important wine-growing family in Argentina, Matías Michelini crossed the pond to start his own project in the Ribadavia area of Galicia. O Morto Wines has 4 hectares of old vineyards planted with local varieties that are organically cultivated and vinified with minimal intervention. As a result, he produces unique natural wines that are a pure reflection of an unparalleled Atlantic landscape. 
 
O Morto Godello comes from a single vineyard that is about 30 years old and located next to the Miño river. The vines are planted in slate and granite soil. They are cultivated using organic agriculture and no chemicals that could affect the natural balance of the terroir. Biodynamic treatments are used instead and the lunar calendar is followed for all processes. The harvest takes places in stages depending on the grape ripeness. 
 
In the winery, the O Morto Godello grapes go through direct pressing and the resulting must spontaneously ferments with native yeasts in jars. The wine remains there on its lees for 9 months.  It is bottled without being clarified, filtered or adding sulphites.
 
O Morto Godello is a very small production that is difficult to imitate. A wonderful expression of the Godello variety in its most natural setting. A real sweet vice.

La Treixadura has established itself as the prominent variety of the Ribeiro. The variety has become irreplaceable in the region, responsible for the fame achieved by the region's wines, as well as their glorious past. It is a well planted strain, vigorous, fairly resistant to disease, with middle productivity and late maturing, which helps produce wines with a spectacular and personal character through the variety, full of freshness and flavour in the mouth, and added mystery.
