O Morto G’ Aviones is a natural, biodynamic, organic and vegan, barrel-aged white wine. Made by O Morto Wines, this is a coupage of the Albariño, Treixadura, Loureira Blanca and Godello native varieties from the D.O. Ribeiro (Galicia).
The O Morto winery was set up by Matías Michelini, an Argentine from a renowned winemaking family who, having worked on different projects in his home country, decided to cross the pond to set up his own winery in the town of Ribadavia (Orense). He has a total of 4 hectares of small plots, with a great diversity of native varieties, which are cultivated with great care to achieve a most sensitive interpretation of such a magical place.
O Morto G’ Aviones is a single-plot wine that starts life in a place called Paraviñol. This is a very special vineyard with soils made of pure granite and lying on a slope. The vines are cultivated using organic agriculture with maximum respect for the vineyard and avoiding the use of chemical products. Measured biodynamic treatments are used instead to preserve the natural balance of the terroir.
In the winery, the O Morto G’ Aviones grapes go through a direct pressing and the resulting must ferments spontaneously with native yeasts in used 300-litre barrels. It stays there for 12 months. It is bottled without clarifying, filtering or adding sulphites.
O Morto G’ Aviones is a complex, deep and very mineral natural white wine. A rediscovery of the D.O. Ribeiro which is a delight for the senses.
