O Luar do Sil Godello Fermentado en barrica is a white wine produced by the winery Pago de los Capellanes in Seadur, D.O. Valdeorras.
 

 

In 2014, Pago de los Capellanes founded its new winery, O Luar do Sil, in Seadur (Valdeorras). With this winery, the Rodero Villa family fulfilled its dream of producing white wine 100% with their philosophy. A special, complex and intense wine that can be kept for a very long time.

Currently, they already make 3 white wines in this region, in a location that has allowed them to make their wines with all the expression of the variety and the character of the terroir, thanks to a traditional viticulture.
 

 

O Luar do Sil Godello Fermentado en barrica is a wine made with Godello, from vineyards planted on slate soils in the village of Seadur.

After the manual harvest in 15-kg boxes, the grapes are taken to the winery, where they rest for 12 hours at a low temperature. Once the grapes have been destemmed, they go through cold maceration. Then, they are gently pressed. The resulting must is transferred to 500-litre French oak and acacia barrels, where it will ferment at a controlled temperature for 20 days. After the fermentation, the wine will remain in these barrels with their fine lees for 6 months, with gentle batonnages. Before it is launched on the market, this wine is naturally clarified, and it rests for at least 3 months in the bottle.

This Denomination of Origin occupies part of the beautiful valleys of the rivers Sil and Jares in the Northeast of the province of Orense.
Vineyards line the slopes of the mountains that frame the river valleys and at the bottom of them, occupying floors slate of very good physical condition and adequate fertility, sometimes on steep slopes.
The variety of higher quality and prestige, among whites, is the Godello, white wine grape that provides very fine fruity and floral aroma and excellent structure in the mouth. Next to this is the providing variety Tinta Mencia reds, purple, intense and elegant aroma and soft fleshy fruit not without its nerve.
