Nus is a sweet wine produced by the Mas d'en Gil winery in Priorat, it works to recover the tradition of making sweet wines in the Priorat.
Nus is made from a blend of Grenache, Syrah and Viognier.
The grapes come from the Villa Mas d'en Gil, a farm of 125 acres, the vineyard, which occupies only 45 of them, shares space with almond, hazelnut and olive trees and Mediterranean forest. It is a farm of old vines planted at an altitude of 300 metres above sea level with slate floors, called licorella in the Priorat.
Harvesting is done manually, waiting for the grapes to be perfectly ripe. Nus in Catalan means knot. A junction. And Nus is made from five red wines. The wine is fermented at a low temperature in order to obtain residual sugar.
Each of these wines are aged for 18 months in French oak barrels. After aging, it is finished cold and to settle the unstable particles.
Finally, the blend of all the wines that make this Nus de Mas d'en Gil is performed. A great sweet aged Priorat wine. Expressive, delicious and high quality.
