Characteristics Noval Tawny Port
Noval Tawny Port is a port wine coupage from different vintages dominated by the region’s traditional Touriga Franca, Tinta Roriz, and Tinta Barroca varieties, made by Quinta do Noval, in Portugal.
The Quinta do Noval Portuguese winery is a leading producer of quality wines and one of the first Vinho do Porto exporters. It sits on the left bank of the Pinhâo River, in the Douro Valley, surrounded by its vineyards that lie in terraces on the slopes and branches of the river.
The grapes used to make this Noval Tawny Port are exclusively “A” quality and come from the heart of the Douro. They are vinified using pumping over in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature. The wines that make up this Port blend have been aged for a minimum of three years in oak barrels.
Tawny wines are Port wines that have been aged for a minimum of 3 years on average and that, because of this aging, have more complex aromas and flavours, and a colour that is closer to golden brown.
