Characteristics Murua Blanco Fermentado en Barrica

Murua Blanco Fermentado en Barrica is a white wine from La Rioja produced by the Murua winery. This wine is a blend of native varieties: ViuraMalvasía and Garnacha Blanca.

The strains are between 40 and 80 years old and are cultivated traditionally, as they have been for decades. The vineyards are situated in the town of Elciego, a town with a great wine-making tradition. Murua Blanco Fermentado en Barrica’s production starts with a period of fermentation in new American and French oak barrels, and after undergoing the different production processes, the wine ages with its lees for around seven months in the same barrels.

Murua was founded in 1974 and boasts 110 hectares of vineyards, spread between the town of Elciego and other neighbouring towns. The winery only works with native varieties and with very low yields, which allows each grape to express the quality of its native land with complete loyalty.

Since the very beginning, at Murua they have worked focusing on the production of delicate and elegant wines that perfectly express the personality and spirit of Rioja Alta. Always using their own vineyards, at Murua they have explored the best terroirs and concentrated the vineyards in farms with their own identity. Their aim is to produce wines with the personality of the landscape, elegant, subtle, and, above all, defending a style that goes beyond fashion.
Rioja is one of the most important areas of wine production in the world. It has a long history, and exceptional soils and climates. From the Tempranillo and Grenache varieties they make great red wines that are masterfully aged which demonstrates the experience passed from generation to generation.
