Mullineux Olerasay 2º Straw Wine 37.5 cl. is a sweet wine made by Mullineux & Leeu with the Chenin Blanc variety in Wine of Origin Swartland, Coastal Region, South Africa.
Founded in 2007, Mullineux & Leeu is one of the most acclaimed wineries in South Africa. Owners Chris and Andrea Mullineux chose to settle in the town of Riebeek-Kasteel, west of Malmesbury in Swartland, because of its old vineyards planted on granite and shale soils. This starting point has earned them prestigious titles like “Winery of the Year” by Platter Guide and “South African Winemakers of the Year” by Tim Atkin.
Mullineux Olerasay 2º Straw Wine 37.5 cl. comes from old vines planted on stony soils composed of shale and granite. The vines are cultivated using environmentally-friendly and sustainable agriculture and the harvest is carried out manually when the grapes reach optimum ripeness.
Mullineux Olerasay 2º Straw Wine 37.5 cl. is made using the Criaderas and Soleras method. Since 2008, a wine barrel has been removed each vintage and mixed in an old 225-litre French oak barrel, providing the freshness of each new vintage. Only one serving is bottled. The rest is saved to continue aging for decades to come.
Mullineux Olerasay 2º Straw Wine 37.5 cl is one of the best rated productions in South Africa. A fascinating sweet wine that despite its high residual sugar level, is very pleasant to drink.
