Muchada-Léclapart Lumière is a biodynamic, barrel-fermented white wine made with the Palomino variety by Muchada-Léclapart in Cádiz (Andalusia).
This small project came to be through a collaboration between Alejandro Muchada, an architect turned winemaker and David Léclapart, a French biodynamic producer. After crossing paths one harvest, the two worked well together and decided to make their own wines in the Barrio Alto of Sanlúcar (Cádiz). These are unique wines made with a focus on naturalness, purity and minimal intervention.
Muchada-Léclapart Lumière comes from old vines of the native Palomino Fino variety with an average age of 60 years old. The plot has around 1.2 hectares of vines planted in albarizo soils and biodynamically cultivated so that plants, animals and people can work together as one without harming the natural balance of the ecosystem. No chemical products are used and the harvest is carried out manually at the optimum moment.
Once the Muchada-Léclapart Lumière grapes reach the winery, the bunches are pressed and the must is allowed to settle by gravity. Then spontaneous fermentation begins with native yeasts and without temperature control in 4-year-old barrels over 9 months. It is finally bottled without being filtered, clarified or adding sulphur.
Straying from the usual guidelines, Muchada-Léclapart Lumière is breaking the Marco de Jerez mould with this 100% Palomino Fino, 100% innovative white wine.
