Real reviews from customers who have purchased this product

Milan Nestarec WTF What the Flor is a natural barrel-aged white made by Milan Nestarec in Moravia (Czech Republic) with the Grüner Veltliner variety.

Milan Nestarec is a young winemaker who in a very short time has become the trendiest winemaker in the Czech Republic. He has 8 hectares of vineyards that his father planted in 2001 in two winemaking areas: Moravský Žižkov and Velké Bílovice (Moravia) produce a full range of the most vital and original natural wines. Of those, it is the incredibly expressive orange wines that stand out, which he learned to make by spending time learning from Aleš Kristančič from Movia.

Milan Nestarec WTF comes from strains with an average age of 35 years old, planted in loess soils at 220 metres above sea level. They are organically cultivated using biodynamic methods and avoiding the use of chemical products, additives and technology. The winemaker relies on minimum intervention to achieve the best result with a limited yield of 25 hl/ha. When the grape reaches optimum ripeness, it is harvested manually.

In the winery, the Milan Nestarec WTF grapes are selected and destemmed by hand. They are then gently pressed and the resulting juice spontaneously ferments with native yeasts in 5-year-old 600-litre acacia barrels. During this process 30% of the skins are in contact with the must for 14 days, breaking the cap occasionally. Then the wine rests in these same barrels for 7 months. It is finally bottled without being filtered, refined or adding sulphur.

Milan Nestarec WTF stands for What The Flor, referring to the Gruner Veltliner variety’s tendency to develop a flor during aging. This prolonged contact with the skin during fermentation results in one of the most interesting orange wines currently available. Emotion and versatility that will not be to everyone’s taste.
