Melior is a red wine from Ribera del Duero prepared by Matarromera, a winery founded in 1988 in Valbuena de Duero (Valladolid).

The climate in this area is Mediterranean with continental influences, characterized by a moderate to low rainfall, dry summers, cold winters and great temperature variation between seasons. This wine is a varietal Tempranillo (100%) from vineyards planted on 85 hectares of sandy-clay soil at about 800 meters above sea level. The vineyards were planted between 1999 and 2001. In terms of processing, the traditional method is followed.
Fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks for 10-14 days at a controlled temperature of 26ºC. Finally, Melior rests for six months in new American oak barrels and 6 months in the bottle.

Around 30 years ago, many wineries in the Ribera del Duero began to come out from under the shadow of the legendry Spanish winery Vega Sicília. Small, medium and large wineries began producing reds that aroused the passion of experts and international wine critics harvest after harvest. Over time big names and reputations began to forge. One of these was Matarromera, a winery founded back in 1988 in Valbuena de Duero, where there noble reds have been able to deliver year after year.
Ribera del Duero wine is one of the most prestigious wines in Spain. Red wines made with Tinto Fino variety grapes, with highly complex aromas, fine on the palate and with a great storage capacity. The wines of Ribera del Duero present a perfect balance between the vividness of the fruit and the refinement of the wood, which has led to them obtaining a well-deserved international acclaim.
