Gianni Masciarelli was a producer whose work marked a before and after in the Abruzzo wine region (Italy). When he inherited some vineyards from his father’s family in 1978, he was able to see the potential of the place better than anyone and enhance his wines with local varieties and a markedly modern style. This was a revolution that, alongside his dear personal and professional partner Marina Cvetic, saw them named among the best of the best. Among the large selection of wines created during this time, the Marina Cvetic range came along in 1991. This is a collection of 6 wines that are characterised by being made with great international varieties like Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Chardonnay, and also with the Montepulciano and Trebbiano native varieties.

Now Gianni’s has passed away, Marina continues the legacy with the same strength and energy as when her husband was around and this is clear to see in this range of wines carrying her own name. Masciarelli Marina Cvetic Montepulciano d'Abruzzo Riserva, the collection’s flagship, is a single-variety wine made with the Montepulciano star variety. A structured wine full of character that starts life at 400 metres above sea level in a clay soil, facing south and southeast. Respectful agriculture is used at all times, avoiding chemicals and limiting yields. In the winery, the selected and destemmed grapes are fermented in stainless steel tanks for 15 to 30 days. Finally, the wine is aged in new French oak barrels for 12 to 18 months and a further 6 months in the bottle.
