Mas Coutelou Amphore is a natural, organic and vegan red wine made in amphoras by Mas Coutelou in the French area of Languedoc-Roussillon (Vin de France) with the noble Syrah variety.
Jean-François Coutelou, known as Jeff, is a prestigious young viticulturist from the south of France who runs the Mas Coutelou family estate in Languedoc near Béziers. They have a total of 13 hectares of organic vineyards with a wide selection of varieties growing among a rich biodiversity and in a wonderful Mediterranean climate. As a result, they grow an excellent raw material to make delicious and pure wines with minimal intervention and minimal SO2.
The Mas Coutelou Amphore grapes come from an organic vineyard that has not been touched by any chemical products for the last 30 years. These vines are planted in clay and limestone soils and enjoy the humidity of the sea breeze and the freshness from the north. The yield is limited to produce more concentrated grapes and the harvest is carried out manually at the optimal point of ripeness.
Like all of Jeff's creations, Mas Coutelou Amphore is made with minimal intervention and almost no added sulphur. The grapes are vinified spontaneously with native yeasts in amphoras and the resulting wine is bottled by gravity and unfiltered.
Mas Coutelou Amphore is a very small production made in amphoras with no frills and maximum skill. A generous and gourmet wine that is a real pleasure.
