Real reviews from customers who have purchased this product

Marqués de Riscal Verdejo is a white wine from Rueda, produced by the Marqués de Riscal winery. This wine producer, typical of La Rioja, has managed to become a reference point thanks to the careful crafting of its wines and its great quality.

The winery has a 225 hectare vineyard over 15 years old, growing in rocky soils poor in organic matter. These vineyards are cultivated under an extreme continental climate, with annual temperature of 13ºC.

With regards to the 2014 harvest, it had a rainfall of 320 liters / m2. For the preparation of this varietal Verdejo, there is a slow harvest, taking advantage of the dry weather and the total absence of rain so as to favor a slow ripening of the grapes. Once chilled and stemmed, the grapes are macerated cold to extract maximum flavour from the skins.

Subsequently a slow fermentation occurs for about 20 days, at a controlled temperature between 13ºC and 15ºC. Finally Marqués de Riscal Verdejo is matured and bottled between January and March.

We are in front of the oldest wineries within the D.O. Rioja, essential in the birth of the D.O. Rueda and with no doubt, one of the most daring and pioneering wineries due to its way of understanding the wine industry.

When we talking about the Rueda wines, we are often referring to their white wines. The white wines produced in this region are often made with the Verdejo variety, the main variety of Rueda, planted along the Douro River and its tributaries. Rueda white wines often offer lots of floral notes, scrubland low, delicate aromas and a great acidity given by strong temperature differences between day and night. Apart from white wine, Rueda also produces red wine, often made with the Tempranillo variety.
