D.O. Rueda (Castilla y León)
Marqués de Riscal is known for being one of the most representative wineries of the D.O.Ca. Rioja today. Founded in 1858, it has been characterised by brave decisions at the forefront of Bordeaux innovations since the very beginning. Not only did they pioneer the use of 225-litre barrels, wooden fermentation cones and lying bottles horizontally, but they were also the first to champion Rueda white wines. Now, once again, they have stepped out and started working in a new denomination, the D.O. Getariako-Txakolina.
Marqués de Riscal Txakoli comes from a magnificent estate located in the valley of Oñati, in the province of Guipúzcoa (Basque Country). This wine is made with the Hondarribi Zuri native variety from vines planted at 250 metres above sea level, in limestone soils and 60 kilometres from the sea. In the winery, the grapes are gently pressed and the resulting must is fermented at a controlled temperature. The wine then ages on its lees in stainless steel tanks for 6 months. Finally, the wine is filtered and bottled without refining or stabilising.
Marqués de Riscal Txakoli is the first traditional Basque white wine from Marqués de Riscal. A modern Txakoli with excellent, unique aromas and a refreshing saline personality.
Marqués de Riscal Txakoli 2018 is an aromatic white wine with fragrances of white fruits and citrus accompanied by subtle herbal and floral notes. On the palate it is fresh, unctuous and enveloping. A wine with well integrated acidity and a very attractive saline finish. It will age very well in the bottle for 3 or 4 years.
