Marmellans Negre is a red wine from Montsant produced by the Celler de Capçanes winery. This winery is located in the Priorat, within the province of Tarragona and is the result of the union of several families from the village of Capçanes where a cooperative of 125 members emerged in 1933.
Marmellans Negre is made from Garnacha (60%) and Carignan (40%). The grapes come from old vines between 30 and 60 years old, planted on clay and granite soils.
To produce Marmellans Negre, destemmed grapes are macerated cold. Then the juice is fermented at a temperature of 24-28°C and a malolactic fermentation is performed in tanks. Finally, the wine spends about 10 months in stainless steel tanks.
