María Remírez de Ganuza is an excellent red wine from Rioja.
It is the most intimate wine by Bodega Remírez de Ganuza and was created as homage to María, the sadly departed sister of the founder of the winery Fernando Remírez de Ganuza.
The total sum of the sales of this wine goes to the Down Syndrome Association.
María Remírez de Ganuza is made with Tempranillo (93%) and Graciano (7%) grapes from the Finca Viña Coqueta, with a later ripening that the rest of the vineyards of the winery. The estate is in the town of Samaniego, very close to the winery, allowing them rigorous control of what goes on in the vineyard at all times.
The grapes are selected by hands twice. First they select the best bunches in the actual vineyard. Once they arrive at the winery they then separate the tops and the bottoms of the bunches, the upper parts of the bunches are more exposed to the sun and are thus riper.
The grapes are destemmed and after a cold maceration they ferment at a controlled temperature in small stainless steel deposits.
Malolactic fermentation occurs in new French oak barrels specially selected for their fineness and quality, where the wine is also aged for 22 months.
María Remírez de Ganuza receives very special dedication and care throughout its whole production process, with everything being taken care of down to the last detail.
There is very limited production of this wine, only 3,000 bottles, of which only 2,000 are put on sale.
María de Remírez de Ganuza can be consumed now or can be kept in good conditions until 2025.
