Maria Bernet Brut is a sparkling Corpinnat made with the Xarel·lo variety by the Júlia Bernet winery in Penedès (Barcelona).
Júlia Bernet is Xavier Bernet’s small personal project. In 2001, this winegrower decided to stop selling his grapes to start making his own still and sparkling wines. His processes are completely organic to make sure the expression of the terroir really comes through. He produces a small amount of high-quality wines and in 2018, he became part of the Corpinnat collective brand for quality sparkling wines.
Maria Bernet Brut Nature comes from vineyards that have been worked by the Bernet family for generations. Lying on the slopes of the Ordal mountain (Subirats), these vines enjoy unique geology and an ideal climate for the Xarel·lo variety to grow well. The vines are cultivated using ecological agriculture and no chemical products. The harvest is carried out manually first thing in the morning to take advantage of the cooler night temperatures.
When the Maria Bernet Brut Nature grapes reach the winery, they are vinified through fermentation at a temperature of 14ºC for about 30 days. The wine then rests for 6 months on its lees and is finished off with a second bottle fermentation with a long aging and stacked.
