Real reviews from customers who have purchased this product

M. Chapoutier Gigondas is a red wine coupage using mainly Red Grenache, at 70%, and with the rest from Syrah, Cinsault and Mouvèdre. It is made by the Maison Chapoutier winery, and comes under AOC Gigondas, in the Rhone Valley.

Michel Chapoutier is a family winery with a long tradition in the Rhone, founded in 1808. It is a winery that works based on the principles of biodynamics and its wines have received great scores from the critics.

The soils in the vineyards from which the grapes vinified to make M. Chapoutier Gigondas come are typical of the denomination: calcareous sandstone soils with ancient boulders. They are located between Orange and Mont Ventoux, on the east bank of the Rhone.

M. Chapoutier Gigondas is harvested manually when the grapes are fully ripe. Once in the winery the grapes are destemmed and the alcoholic fermentation and maceration period last for 3 weeks. During the fermentation, it is pumped over twice a day to extract more colour and soft tannins from the skins. Lastly part of the wine is aged in small oak barrels for 12-16 months and the rest remains in tanks.

M. Chapoutier Gigondas is a wine that balances power and refinement, fruit and spices.
