Luigi Tacchino Barbera del Monferrato is a stainless steel-aged red wine made by Luigi Tacchino with the Barbera variety in the DOP Barbera Monferrato, in Piedmont (Italy).
Luigi Tacchino is a winery in Castelletto d'Orba, in the Alto Monferrato region, in southern Piedmont. Luigi, his wife and their two children Romina and Alessio, are continuing the family tradition of making great fresh and brilliant wines, using the traditional local grapes and selling them for a very reasonable price.
Luigi Tacchino Barbera del Monferrato comes from vineyards located in mountainous areas on clay-calcareous soils. The vines are cultivated using traditional agriculture and the yield is limited to 80 kg/ha. The harvest is carried out manually in small 15 kg boxes.
When the Luigi Tacchino Barbera del Monferrato grapes reach the winery, they are crushed and then undergo alcoholic fermentation at a controlled temperature of 25ºC. The wine then ages for 7 months in stainless steel tanks before being bottled.
Luigi Tacchino Barbera del Monferrato is a clear example that great wines can be found outside the great Piedmont vineyards. A concentrated and beautifully expressive Barbera.
