Losares is a red wine produced in Rioja by Olivier Riviere.

Olivier Riviere arrived in Logroño to work with Telmo Rodriguez on his La Rioja project. His career was already extensive, he studied in Bordeos and worked in the area’s wineries, then went to Borgoña to work in Domaine Leroy, one of the area’s most important wineries working in biodynamics.

Losares comes from their own vineyard dating from 1930, it is Olivier Riviere’s single-estate vineyard located in Navaridas, Rioja Alavesa, on sandy-lime soil 700 metres above sea level. The vineyard is planted in the old way, mixing varieties. In this vineyard, the Tempranillo dominates with 95%, and the rest is Mazuelo and Graciano.

The wine production begins with destemming the grape that is introduces to cement tansk where it ferments with its own yeast. The wine is decanted into 500 litre barrels where it is aged for months in order to polarise the tannins and round them off.

The production total for Losares is 600 bottles.

From the Tempranillo and Grenache varieties they make great red wines that are masterfully aged which demonstrates the experience passed from generation to generation.
