Characteristics Leon Barral Blanc
Léon Barral Blanc is an orange wine coupage of Terret Blanc and other white varieties produced by Domaine Léon Barral under the A.O.C. Faugères in Languedoc-Roussillon, France.
To make the Léon Barral Blanc wine, the grape harvest and selection are carried out manually. When they reach the winery, they ferment with their native yeasts and macerate with their skins for about four weeks with manual battonage. Once maceration has finished, the grapes are gently pressed with an old vertical press. The resulting wine briefly ages in the barrel. The exact duration depends on the vintage. It is bottled without added sulphites.
Didier Barral is an exceptional winemaker who settled at Domaine Léon Barral in 1990 to try and create an authentic expression of soils, landscapes and diversity through his wines. The winery, named after Didier’s grandfather, is a flagship of revolutionary viticulture. Didier Barral decided that biodynamic practices were the best way to work his 30 hectares of vineyards. In short, he is an innovator who takes great care of his grapes from the vineyard to the winery and who works with an extraordinary level of craftsmanship to create exceptional wines.
